Are You Serious About
Keeping Your Deliverance?
by James and Janell LyleDo you want a miracle from God? Deliverance is truly a miracle from the Lord. Look at the deliverance Jesus did. It was miraculous. We must face the fact, we all need a miracle in our life so that we may be set free.
You must be serious about wanting help from the Lord or you would not have come to the place where you realize you need for deliverance from sin in your live.
There are many ways in which to keep your deliverance or freedom from the sins that have your life bound.
1. After we receive deliverance, we must learn how to keep it.
2. After we have been illuminated by the Holy Spirit and convicted of the sins, we must be willing to surrender them to Jesus to do with what He will. Hebrews 10:32-39
3. We must recognize what the devil is doing by using us to commit sin. 1 John 3:7-8; James 4:7
4. We have to have our mind set on knowing these sins are destroying us and our relationship with Jesus or we will not get deliverance because human nature will not let go of the sin. John 10:10; Hebrews 10:16
5. First of all it is by the grace of God that we were deliveredand it is by His grace that we will be able walk in it. We must have a grateful heart towards Jesus. James 4:6; 1 Corinthians 12:9; Ephesians 2:8-10, Hebrews 13:15
6. It is man's nature to sin because of Adam's fall and satan is the god of this world. We are born in sin and have curses from our forefathers passed down to us. We are surrounded by satan on every side to tempt us and lead us astray. The scripture says to "resist the devil and he will flee". James 4:7-10
7. We must examine our hearts on a daily basis for sin such as unforgiveness and be quick and willing to repent of it. We must forgive others before we can be forgiven. The Lord wants our heart soft and pliable so that He can work with it; not hard and callused where Jesus has to break it before He is able to work in it. Matthew 6:14; John 12:24-26
8. After delicerane we are beginning a new chapter in your walk with Jesus. We must begin to see all the things around us that were associated with the sin we were delivered from. It could mean changing friends, living situations, workplaces, what we read or watch on T.V., how we speak, places we go to that we know will tempt us to fall back into the sin. Generally speaking we must ask Jesus to expose everything that would hinder us from keeping or receiving further deliverance. "Be ye holy as I am Holy", 1 Peter 1:16; 1 Thessalonians 5:21-24
9. We must ask Jesus to give us a keen sense of discerning of spirits in order that we are able to see when these spirits are trying to get back in. These spirits have lived in you and are familiar with you. They are called familiar spirits for this reason. Some of which came from your family. They know how to use your mind, will, emotions and desires to do evil or sin. We must pray and ask Jesus to expose the workings and presence of these spirits in us and around us. Sometimes they are so much a part of us we do not recognize them at all. Matthew 12:43-45; Luke 11:24-26; Hebrews 5:14; Luke 12:44,45
10. We must deny the flesh. Our flesh has no right to be in charge over our spirit. Our spirit is from God and the only reason we need our flesh is to transport our spirit. We cannot go by feelings but sometimes the Lord blesses us with feelings. We do not allow our feelings to be hurt or allow our soul to think that we must be gratified if someone does us wrong. Sometimes we must fast and pray to put our flesh in it's proper place. Revelation 12:11; Titus 2:12; Galatians 5:13.
11. We must have ears to hear. We must begin to know the difference between the voice of Jesus and the voice of satan. You will never keep your deliverance if you listen to the assurer who will condemn and convince you that you are not forgiven or delivered. John 10:3; Matthew 24:4-13; 1 Corinthians 3:18-21; 1 John 1:8-10
12. Do not be ashamed or afraid to ask for help from those that believe in deliverance and above all pray for sovereign deliverance. James 5:13-20; Galatians 6:1,2; Hebrews 10:26
13. When the Lord shows you that there are other connecting spirits associated with your deliverance, you have to be willing to give up that which is connected. In other words, we cannot be in rebellion. 1 Samuel 15:23
14. The blood of Jesus covers our sin, breaks the curses off our lives and brings us freedom. It is by His blood that we are forgiven and given an eternal inheritance. We must realize the power of His blood in our life. Hebrews 10:14
15. Cast all your cares upon Jesus. He is your deliverer, not man. Always look to Jesus for He is your hope and salvation. 1 Peter 5:7; 2 Corinthians 1:9,10
16. Praise and worship the One who is worthy to be praised. As we lift up our eyes and keep them focused on Jesus then, just like the woman who had the hemorrhage for 12 years was healed by touching the hem of Jesus' garment, so will you be healed as you look upon Jesus, as yo have Jesus the center of your life. Psalms 22:3; Luke 18:43-48
17. Pray for more of the Holy Spirit to come in you and allow the fruits of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, self control, kindness, goodness, faithfulness) to begin to do a work in you. We must also realize that when we are delivered there is an empty spot within us and we have to ask the Holy Spirit to fill this area so to keep it clean. Hebrews 10:32-39
18. We must develop a relationship with Jesus through praying and reading His Word. We learn of His character by reading the Bible. We learn of His thoughts and ways. In prayer, we can speak to Him and He can speak to us. An intimate conversation begins and a relationship is established which will grow as we stay in the presence of Jesus. Luke 24:13-53; Revelation 3:20-22; Song of Solomon 2:16
19. We must change our old negative way of thinking and allow Jesus to impart His Wisdom, Knowledge, and Understanding. Everyday we should ask the Lord for His Wisdom. Phil 4:8,9
20. We cannot blame everything on the devil or evil spirits. Sometimes we mess up. We have to believe if we have done something wrong we suffer the consequences for it. But if we ask for forgiveness the Lord is faithful to forgive us. 1 John 1:8-10
21. You must surround yourselves with others who believe on Jesus for they will help encourage you and pray with you. Hebrew 10:24,25
22. Study about the armor of God. Realize it is not just words to speak but all the pieces of the armor have to be at work in your life, they have to become your character and nature. Ephesians 6:10-20
23. We must use the principles of binding and loosening. Matthew 16:19; (example of binding not being used - Acts 19:13-16).
24. Humility or submission to Jesus. We should always submit ourselves to Jesus in every area of our life. James 4:7, 10; 1 Peter 5:5,6
